VIVER COM OSTOMIA: VENCER O PRECONCEITO COM EDUCAÇÃO EM SAÚDE LIVING WITH AN OSTOMY: OVERCOMING PREJUDICE THROUGH HEALTH EDUCATION
OBJETIVOS: As ostomias são importante parte de soluções terapêuticas na manutenção da fisiologia orgânica e/ou preservação da vida do paciente. No entanto, os conhecimentos acerca do seu impacto, manejo e cuidados são pouco valorizados na formação médica, por esse motivo, esse estudo realizado por estudantes da Liga Acadêmica de Anatomia (LAA) visou fomentar a construção, compartilhamento e difusão de conhecimento com potencial de impactar na prática do cuidado humanizado. Com isso, buscou-se mitigar a desinformação, eventuais preconceitos e dificuldades na relação do profissional da saúde com os pacientes, e ofertar a melhor qualidade de tratamento para a pessoa ostomizada. MÉTODO: tratou-se de intervenção educativa em saúde realizada por membros da LAA. O projeto originou-se da discussão do tema em sessão de tutoria na Liga, sendo expandido às pessoas ostomizadas e comunidade. Aprovado por Comissão de Ética em Pesquisa, também abrangeu parcerias entre a LAA, associação de ostomizados, hospital geral e atenção primária à saúde. RESULTADOS: resultou em duas intervenções educacionais (ação I e II). Neste estudo abordou-se a ação I e ilustrou-se estatisticamente a relevância da ação para cada participante.

Abstract:
OBJECTIVES: Ostomies are an important therapeutic solution to maintain not only a patient's organic physiology but their life as well. However, the current knowledge about its impact, handling and care are not well valued in medical education. Therefore, Anatomy Academic League (AAL) student’s goals were to build, exchange and spread information capable of impacting, through this study, practical humanized care. With this was tried to minimize misinformation, prejudice and difficulties in the relation between the health care professionals and ostomized patients, aiming to improve quality of treatment. METHOD: it is reported health education intervention made by AAL members. The project started from the discussion of the theme on an AAL’s tutorial and was guided to ostomate people and the community. Approved by a Research Ethic Committee, the work also included partnerships between AAL, ostomate association, general hospital, and primary health care. RESULTS: it resulted in two educational interventions (action I and action II), and this study focus was on action I, including the statistical illustration of the relevance of the action for each participant.
