USO DE METILFENIDATO PARA MELHORA DO DESEMPENHO ACADÊMICO
Resumo: Este estudo teve como objetivo abordar sobre o impacto do uso de metilfenidato por acadêmicos saudáveis tendo como propósito melhora cognitiva e retratar suas complicações proveniente do uso indiscriminado. Para isso, foi realizada uma revisão de literatura com abordagem qualitativa, utilizando como bases de dados de pesquisa científica as seguintes plataformas: LILACS, SciELO, Science Direct, tendo como recorte temporal os últimos 10 anos (2010-2020). As principais motivações relatadas para o uso da droga foram a melhora dos resultados acadêmicos e o aumento da concentração durante os estudos, embora pesquisa não mostre melhora significativa no desempenho acadêmico com o uso de medicamentos por indivíduos saudáveis. O aumento nas prescrições do metilfenidato expandiu a disponibilidade do medicamento para usos não médicos. Embora, a eficácia do metilfenidato no tratamento do TDAH esteja bem documentada, poucos estudos analisaram o efeito da droga no uso ilícito não prescrito, assim, compreender mais sobre os efeitos do metilfenidato também é importante.

Abstract:
This study aimed to address the impact of methylphenidate use by healthy academics with the purpose of cognitive improvement and to portray its complications from indiscriminate use. For this, a literature review with qualitative approach was carried out, using as scientific research databases the following platforms: LILACS, SciELO, Science Direct, having as time frame the last 10 years (2010-2020). The main motivations reported for the use of the drug were the improvement of academic results and the increase in concentration during the studies, although research does not show significant improvement in academic performance with the use of medications by healthy individuals. The increase in methylphenidate prescriptions has expanded the availability of the drug for non-medical uses. Although the efficacy of methylphenidate in the treatment of ADHD is well documented, few studies have analyzed the effect of the drug on unprescribed illicit use, so understanding more about the effects of methylphenidate is also important.
