USE OF FOREST RESOURCES AND MANAGEMENT OF SOILS DEGRADED BY FIRE IN THE ALTIPLANO TAMAULIPECO, MEXICO

En la “La Peña”, localidad de alta montaña del Altiplano Tamaulipeco, se realizan actividades para el aprovechamiento forestal, manejo y uso del suelo. Las cuales son interrumpidas por incendios forestales; de acuerdo con la magnitud de dichos eventos y sus efectos en el ecosistema, se realizan acciones de reforestación y restauración de suelos. El objetivo fue conocer el uso y manejo de los suelos degradados, cuantificar la superficie incendiada y las amenazas al hábitat. Se realizaron entrevistas a los habitantes para determinar las actividades realizadas. Los resultados establecieron la superficie y amenazas por incendios forestales; mediante la organización campesina, se realizan actividades de conservación del suelo. Las mujeres se dedican a la recolección de plantas y productos no maderables. El manejo del suelo degradado, mediante el aprovechamiento de los residuos del incendio, permite su control y evita su pérdida, dando paso a la reforestación del sitio, sea natural o asistida.

  • Abstract:

    In the Agricultural Colony “La Peña" high mountain village Altiplano Tamaulipeco, activities utilization of forest resources management and land use are made. However, these activities have been interrupted by fires in recent years. According to the magnitude of the event and its effects on the ecosystem, you must perform various reforestation, soil restoration and combat and control forest pests and diseases, which usually occur after such incidents. The aim of this study was to determine the use and management of degraded soils held in Cologne said after the fire. Moreover, interviews about the activities of use and handling of the affected sites made the inhabitants were conducted. The results of these indicate that through the organization of Community crews residual plant material is collected for use in conservation work and prevent runoff and soil erosion. Women are engaged in collecting plants and other non -timber products for obtaining financial resources. Degraded soil management through the use of waste fire, allows control and prevents the loss of it, leading to the gradual reforestation either natural or assisted site.
