UMA ABORDAGEM DE DIAGNÓSTICO PARA AVALIAÇÃO DE DIFICULDADES MATEMÁTICAS EM NOVOS ESTUDANTES DE ENGENHARIA: APLICAÇÃO DE UM CASO DE ESTUDO NO ISEP
Com o intuito de melhorar a qualidade do ensino no Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto – Politécnico do Porto (ISEP/P. Porto), nas Unidades Curriculares de Matemática, foi desenvolvido um teste diagnóstico baseado numa abordagem conceptual, a fim de compreender e identificar fragilidades no conhecimento e competências matemáticas dos novos alunos do 1º ano do ano letivo 2019/20. Para tal, realizou-se uma análise quantitativa e qualitativa, com base nos temas abordados no teste diagnóstico, a fim de identificar os assuntos críticos. Em termos de resultados, constatou-se que os temas mais críticos foram Modelização e Estatística.

Abstract:
In order to improve the quality of teaching at the Porto Higher Engineering Institute - Polytechnic of Porto (ISEP/P. Porto), in the Mathematics Curricular Units, a diagnostic test based on a conceptual approach was developed to understand and identify deficiencies in the knowledge and mathematical competencies of the new students of the 1st year in the academic year 2019/20. To this end, a quantitative and qualitative analysis was carried out, based on the topics covered in the diagnostic test, in order to identify the critical issues. In terms of results, it was found that the most critical themes were Modeling and Statistics.
