TRANSFORMAR PARA INCLUIR – O CASO DO CAIS DE CONTAGEM-MG
Até meados do século XX, a
educação especial era oferecida em instituições
especializadas ou em classes especiais.
Contudo, deixou de ser a única forma de
escolarização da pessoa deficiente. Entre os
serviços oferecidos atualmente para este público
está o Atendimento Educacional Especializado
- AEE. Esse artigo tem por finalidade expor a
experiência do CAIS de Contagem-MG. O estudo
é parte integrante de um projeto de pesquisa
que está em desenvolvimento no Programa de
Mestrado em Educação da Universidade do
Oeste Paulista – Unoeste. Tem como aporte
teórico MANTOAN, 2003; GLAT, PLETSCH e
FONTES, 2007; SANCHEZ, 2005. O método
utilizado foi a observação com registro em
diário de campo e entrevistas semiestruturadas.
Percebe-se que é possível uma inclusão digna
ao PAEE e que são necessárias mudanças, não
só no âmbito da escola regular, como também
na escola especial.

Abstract:
Until the mid-twentieth century,
special education was offered in specialized
institutions or special classes. However, it is no
longer the only form of schooling for the disabled
person. Among the services currently offered
to this public is the Specialized Educational
Assistance (AEE). This article has the purpose
of exposing the experience of the CAIS of
Contagem-MG. The study is an integral part of a
research project that is under development in the
Master’s Program in Education of Universidade
do Oeste Paulista - Unoeste. It has as
theoretical contribution MANTOAN, 2003; GLAT,
PLETSCH and FONTES, 2007; SANCHEZ,
2005. The method used was observation with
field journaling and semi-structured interviews.
It is noticed that a decent inclusion is possible to
the PAEE and that changes are necessary, not
only in the scope of the regular school, but also
in the special school.
