Abstract:
The use of soil bricks has been common throughout history, from simple housing to large constructions, and after being neglected in the post-Industrial Revolution, they are currently being resumed in the midst of the environmental urgency for construction. To obtain better quality bricks, the so-called soil stabilizations are necessary, such as physical, through sand, chemical, through Portland cement, forming up to this point the soil-cement composite, and mechanics, through fibers. This article deals with the joint stabilization with sand, Portland cement and jute and mallow vegetable fibers, whose crops are of great importance for the economy of the interior of Amazonas, and the results of absorption and axial compression tests carried out in accordance with NBR 8492/ 2013 and successfully evaluated according to NBR 8491/2012.
