THE PERFORMANCE OF NURSES IN THE PREOPERATIVE PERIOD OF CARDIAC SURGERIES - REVIEW OF BRAZILIAN STUDIES
Objetivo: Descrever as ações do enfermeiro no pré-operatório de cirurgias cardíacas segundo a literatura científica brasileira. Metodologia: revisão bibliográfica realizada no período de janeiro a fevereiro de 2016 nas bases SciELo e LILACS. Os termos utilizados na busca em cada base foram: pré-operatório, avaliação cardíaca, enfermagem, centro cirúrgico. Foram incluídos os artigos publicados em português (Brasileiro), entre os anos de 2011 a 2016, disponíveis online e na íntegra. Foram excluídos artigos não relacionados diretamente à temática. Resultados: o esclarecimento de dúvidas permite ao paciente a compreender certas situações e, talvez, buscar alternativas que minimizem as suas ansiedades. A preparação psicológica é vista como benéfica com base nas necessidades individuais do paciente, como a medida em que o paciente se sente esclarecido, diminuirão seus medos, evitando possíveis complicações no pós-operatório. Assim, é papel do enfermeiro tentar intervir para reduzir a percepção da ansiedade de pessoas que enfrentam os períodos de pré-operatório, especialmente das cirurgias cardíacas. Conclusão: espera-se que os enfermeiros possam desempenhar o papel de educadores e que a educação em saúde possa ajudar o paciente a se adaptar ao processo saúde- doença que enfrentam, tornarem aptos e aderirem ao plano terapêutico.

Abstract:
Objective: To describe the actions of nurses in the preoperative period of cardiac surgeries according to the Brazilian scientific literature. Methodology: bibliographic review carried out from January to February 2016 in the SciELo and LILACS databases. The terms used in the search in each base were: preoperative, cardiac evaluation, nursing, surgical center. We included the articles published in Portuguese (Brazilian), between 2011 and 2016, available online and in full. Articles not directly related to the theme were excluded. Results: the clarification of doubts allows the patient to understand certain situations and, perhaps, to seek alternatives that minimize their anxieties. Psychological preparation is seen as beneficial based on the individual needs of the patient, as the extent to which the patient feels enlightened, will decrease his fears, avoiding possible postoperative complications. Thus, it is the role of nurses to try to intervene to reduce the perception of anxiety of people facing preoperative periods, especially cardiac surgeries. Conclusion: it is expected that nurses can play the role of educators and that health education can help the patient to adapt to the health-disease process they face, become fit and adhere to the therapeutic plan.
