Abstract: Heart failure is a prevalent condition in the elderly, and its complexity is often exacerbated by the presence of comorbidities such as cardiac sarcopenia. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the literature to explore the influence of cardiac sarcopenia on the prognosis of elderly patients with heart failure. Multiple studies suggest that the prevalence of cardiac sarcopenia in elderly patients is significant and is associated with poorer clinical outcomes such as reduced quality of life and an elevated risk of mortality. Furthermore, the paper highlights that cardiac sarcopenia may interfere with the effectiveness of conventional heart failure treatments. The review concludes by underlining the critical need for further research to better understand the underlying mechanisms of cardiac sarcopenia and to develop effective treatment and prevention strategies.
