Abstract: This article explores the contemporary scenario of emerging technologies in teacher education, analyzing how artificial intelligence, digital active methodologies, and digital competencies are transforming the professional development of teachers in the 21st century. The objective is to investigate the contributions of four contemporary thinkers - Lilian Bacich, José Moran, Vani Kenski, and Marcos Tarciso Masetto - to understand the challenges and opportunities of technological integration in educator training. The central problem lies in the urgent need to rethink traditional training models in the face of post-pandemic digital acceleration. The justification is based on the gap between required digital competencies and the effective preparation of teachers for the pedagogical use of emerging technologies. The methodology adopted is qualitative, exploratory in nature, based on documentary analysis and bibliographic review of studies published between 2017-2024. The results indicate that teacher education needs to evolve from transmissive models to dialogical, collaborative approaches centered on the development of specific digital competencies. It is concluded that emerging technologies do not replace teachers but require a fundamental reconfiguration of their role as mediators, content curators, and facilitators of meaningful learning.
