Abstract: Research is a process or set of processes, which, developed through a method or methodology, investigate a phenomenon in depth, in order to identify and address problems, in this case specific to the socio-health area. To do this, it is necessary to have a good methodological design, but even more important is to be able to select a good sampling technique to gather the relevant characteristics of the population and sample for the study. That is why the objective of this chapter is to explain the most common probabilistic sampling in statistical studies for health sciences; simple random sampling, stratified sampling, cluster sampling and systematic sampling.
