Abstract: This research presents an overview of the current situation of women and Mayan women in Guatemala. These conditions are based on the idiosyncrasies of the Guatemalan population and are inherited from generation to generation. However, there are positive changes that are gradually becoming apparent. This research is based on a survey conducted with a target group of managers and administrators of some of the most important companies in the country, in order to obtain data on the percentage of women and Mayan women who hold important positions in the industry and whether or not they perform jobs that are idiosyncratically valued as those of men. In addition, it is enriched by interviews with women and men who, in most cases, preferred to keep their identity secret regarding some characteristics of economic mistreatment of Guatemalan women. The need to establish more just economic relations between men and women is emphasized, and to declare that the occupations that in Guatemala and many countries of the world have been culturally established as men's occupations as occupations that can and should be exercised by both men and women in order to open up that space for development and thus allow women to have greater employment areas and thus generate their own income is established. Training is established as a premise as a more viable way of enabling a person to exercise a trade and thus get out of the hole of poverty. It is considered that the centralization of companies and government entities decreases the possibilities of obtaining employment within the Republic and the dropout rate of women at the diversified level is pointed out.
