SISTEMA DE SAÚDE NORTE-AMERICANO: TRAJETÓRIA HISTÓRIA E OS DESAFIOS PARA O PRESENTE E O FUTURO
Conhecer os eventos históricos sobre as políticas públicas destinadas ao setor saúde estadunidense, nos ajuda a compreender como chegamos ao momento atual. Tida como uma das maiores potências econômicas do mundo, os Estados Unidos apresentam um sistema de saúde extremamente falho em seu propósito e que enaltece de maneira gritante a desigualdade social. Diante desses fatos, o presente trabalho tem por objetivo abordar a temática sobre a trajetória histórica e apontar possíveis caminhos que levem a eficiência, eficácia e maior equidade do sistema de saúde para a população americana. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, exploratória, em que foi realizada no mês de janeiro de 2021, uma revisão bibliográfica dos últimos 15 anos em artigos científicos e demais fontes da Internet, utilizando os descritores: sistema de saúde, Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Medicare, Medicaid. Compreende-se que mesmo com os esforços dos governos em desenvolver programas com o intuito de suprir as necessidades de saúde de sua população, estes não são eficientes, deixando uma grande parcela da sociedade desassistida. Questões ligadas à promoção e prevenção também são deixadas em um segundo plano, quando deveriam ser pontos chaves para a melhoria da saúde de sua população, visto proporcionar a melhoria da qualidade de vida e a redução dos gastos com a saúde.

Abstract:
Knowing the historical events about the policies defined to the American health sector, helps us to understand how we got to the present moment. Regarded as one of the greatest powers for the benefit of the world, the United States has a health system that is extremely flawed in its purpose and that strikingly praises social inequality. In view of these facts, the present work aims to address the theme on a historical trajectory and point out possible paths that lead to efficiency, effectiveness and greater equity in the health system for an American population. It is a qualitative, exploratory research, in which in January 2021, a bibliographic review of the last 15 years was carried out in scientific articles and other Internet sources, using the descriptors: health system, Patient Protection and Assistance Affordable Act, Medicare, Medicaid. It is understood that even with the efforts of governments to develop programs in order to meet the health needs of their population, they are not efficient, leaving a large portion of society unattended. Issues related to promotion and prevention are also left in the background, when the key points for improving the health of its population are displayed, since it provides an improvement in the quality of life and a reduction in health spending.
