Abstract: Food security in Brazil is a fundamental concern, aiming to ensure that all people have regular and permanent access to quality food in sufficient quantity to meet their nutritional needs. The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) plays a crucial role in collecting data and information on food security through two surveys: the National Household Sample Survey (PNAD) and the Household Budget Survey (POF). These surveys are fundamental to understand the food security situation in Brazil, identify the most vulnerable groups and monitor possible changes over time. The objective of this work is to update and gather relevant information on food security and climate change in the Brazilian scenario. The research was developed through a bibliographic search and search for key terms related to food security in the last 20 years. Food insecurity declined between 2000 and 2013 and has increased again since then. Climate change has a direct and indirect influence on food security. The results of the surveys reveal an increase in hunger from 2013, with the persistence of food insecurity in the North and Northeast regions.
