Abstract: This work presents a literature review that aimed to identify effective strategies for the control and prevention of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) in the context of public health. CVDs represent one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, imposing a substantial burden on populations and healthcare systems. The review examined 37 scientific articles, revealing crucial insights. It became evident that CVDs disproportionately affect low-income populations and minority groups, underscoring the importance of equitable approaches in public health. Prevention emerged as a central element in reducing the impact of CVDs. Interventions targeting the modification of risk factors such as smoking, poor diet, physical inactivity, and hypertension have been shown to be effective in reducing CVD rates. Additionally, primary prevention strategies like health education programs, lifestyle changes, and awareness campaigns played a fundamental role in promoting cardiovascular health. The review also highlighted the importance of a community-based approach in CVD prevention. Community-based programs involving local healthcare workers and tailored to the specific needs of populations have proven effective in improving knowledge and adherence to healthy practices. Furthermore, innovative approaches such as the use of technology and social media have the potential to reach a broader audience. However, challenges persist, including the need for increased funding, more effective health policies, and reducing disparities in healthcare access.
