REVISÃO COMPREENSIVA SOBRE ESTOMIA: TÉCNICAS E INDICAÇÕES
Na medicina, estomia é um procedimento cirúrgico, que conecta um segmento do intestino à superfície do corpo, por meio da parede abdominal, criando uma abertura ou ``boca`` no órgão oco para possibilitar a excreção de produtos residuais. Esse procedimento é realizado em um elevado número de pessoas, dessa forma objetivou-se levar em conta sua importância qualitativa no tratamento de pacientes com doenças intestinais e também sua importância quantitativa. Para tal, utilizaram-se os artigos disponíveis nas bases de dados MEDLINE PubMed. Grande parte das realizações desse procedimento é devido à cirurgias oncológicas, sendo o câncer colorretal o principal motivo. Pacientes submetidos a esse procedimento, posteriormente, requerem apoio e cuidados especializados ao longo da vida, necessitando de médicos domiciliares capacitados a avaliá-lo e a fornecer intervenções de enfermagem adequadas.

Abstract:
: In medicine, an ostomy is a surgical procedure that connects a segment of the intestine to the surface of the body, through the abdominal wall, creating an opening or ``mouth`` in the hollow organ to allow the excretion of waste products. This procedure is realized in a high number of people. In this way, the objective was to take into account its qualitative importance in the treatment of patients with intestinal diseases, and quantitative importance. For this purpose, articles available in the MEDLINE PubMed databases were used. Most of the achievements of this procedure are due to oncological surgeries, with colorectal cancer being the main reason. Patients who undergo this procedure later require support and specialized care throughout their lives, requiring home physicians trained to assess it and provide adequate nursing interventions.
