RETINOPATIA DIABÉTICA: UMA REVISÃO DE LITERATURA
Os distúrbios oftalmológicos acometem grande parte da população brasileira e tem grande incidência em pacientes com comorbidades, como a diabetes mellitus. O objetivo dessa revisão é compreender a associação da retinopatia com a diabetes mellitus, além de seu tratamento. Sendo assim, foram realizadas pesquisas nos bancos de dados PubMed, LILACS e SciELO sobre a temática e selecionado os artigos mais recentes. A retinopatia diabética é uma manifestação retiniana de uma microangiopatia que ocorre devido a hiperglicemia sanguínea, aumentando a permeabilidade capilar dos vasos da retina, deixando-os mais propensos a lesões. Para diagnóstico dessa patologia, executa-se o exame oftalmológico incluindo a oftalmoscopia e a biomicroscopia da retina sob midríase medicamentosa. Em relação ao tratamento, deve-se primeiramente controlar os níveis de pressóricos e da glicemia do paciente.

Abstract:
Ophthalmological disorders affect a large part of the brazilian population and have a high incidence in patients with comorbidities, such as diabetes mellitus. The objective of this review is to understand the association of retinopathy with diabetes mellitus, in addition to its treatment. Therefore, searches were carried out in the PubMed, LILACS and SciELO databases on the subject and the most recent articles were selected. Diabetic retinopathy is a retinal manifestation of a microangiopathy that occurs due to blood hyperglycemia, increasing the capillary permeability of retinal vessels, making them more prone to injury. For diagnosis of this pathology, an ophthalmological examination is performed, including ophthalmoscopy and retinal biomicroscopy under drug-induced mydriasis. Regarding treatment, the patient's blood pressure and blood glucose levels must first be controlled.
