RESGATE DA HISTÓRIA DO ALEITAMENTO MATERNO NA CIDADE DE FEIRA DE SANTANA
Introdução: Políticas públicas,
regelações, estratégias e iniciativas de
educação interferem nos indicadores de
aleitamento materno (AM). Objetivos: Analisar
a trajetória do AM e os fatores que contribuíram
para a sua evolução, na cidade de Feira de
Santana, desde a implantação e funcionamento
dos Bancos de Leite Humano; além de verificar
atividades desenvolvidas na área de educação.
Métodos: Estudo documental de abordagem
exploratória, mediante registro e análise dos
fatos ocorridos nos últimos trinta anos. Foram
consultados folders de eventos científicos,
livros, jornais, revistas, relatórios, documentos
oficiais de hospitais, tabelas com resultados
estatísticos, cartas e fotografias. Resultados:
O primeiro Banco de Leite Humano e atual
referência para o Estado da Bahia foi implantado
no município em 1987 e o segundo em 1990.
Nas últimas três décadas, foram realizadas
campanhas educativas em televisão, rádios,
jornais, outdoor, cartazes, adesivos para carro
e introdução de noções sobre AM na rede
estadual de ensino. Foram desenvolvidos os
projetos: Carteiro Amigo, Bombeiro amigo do
peito e de Incentivo ao Aleitamento Materno. A
duração mediana da amamentação exclusiva
aumentou de 52,3 a 84,3 dias e amamentação
total de 278 a 376 dias, quando comparados os
resultados de inquéritos transversais realizados
no ano de 1996, 2001 e 2009. Conclusão:
Intervenções exitosas realizadas ao longo do
tempo contribuíram para a evolução positiva
dos indicadores de AM em Feira de Santana.

Abstract:
Introduction: Public policies, regulations, strategies and initiatives of
education interfere in breastfeeding indicators. Objective: To analyze the trajectory of
the breastfeeding and the factors that have contributed to its evolution, in the city of
Feira de Santana, since the deployment and operation of Human Milk Banks; in addition
to checking activities developed in the area of education. Methods: Documental study
of exploratory approach, upon registration and analysis of the facts that occurred in
the past 30 years. Were consulted folders of scientific events, books, newspapers,
magazines, reports, official documents of hospitals, tables with statistical results, letters
and photos. Results: The first human milk bank and current reference for the state of
Bahia was implanted in the municipality in 1987 and the second in 1990. In the last three
decades, were carried out educational campaigns on television, radio, newspapers,
outdoor, posters, decals for car and introduction of notions about breastfeeding in the
state network of teaching. The projects were developed: Postman Friend, Firefighter
friend and Incentive to breastfeeding. The median duration of exclusive breastfeeding
increased from 52.3 to 84.3 days and total breastfeeding from 278 to 376 days, when
compared to the results of cross-sectional surveys carried out in the year of 1996, 2001
and 2009. Conclusion: successful interventions performed over time contributed to
the positive development of the indicators of breastfeeding in Feira de Santana.
