RELATO DE EXPERIÊNCIA SOBRE A ORGANIZAÇÃO DO EVENTO MULTIDISCIPLINAR “DIA DO DIABETES” NO MUNICÍPIO DE VIÇOSA – MG
A Diabetes Mellitus é uma doença que afeta o controle glicêmico do corpo humano, podendo culminar em diversos agravos para os sistemas orgânicos do mesmo. A prevalência mundial dessa patologia vem crescendo no decorrer dos anos e o Brasil está entre as lideranças desse índice. Nesse sentido, o presente relato tem por objetivo apresentar a experiência de realização do “Dia do Diabetes”, organizado pela Liga Acadêmica de Endocrinologia e Metabologia da Universidade Federal de Viçosa. Além disso, visa comparar os resultados encontrados com a média nacional. O evento teve participação dos alunos de medicina e a docente da liga, estudantes de enfermagem e profissionais de educação física e nutrição. Ocorreu em uma feira ao ar livre da cidade de Viçosa - MG, onde se aferiu a glicemia dos que passavam pelo local. Em um prédio ao lado, foram oferecidas palestras voltadas para conscientização da população a respeito da diabetes. Como resultado, obteve-se uma prevalência maior de DM na amostra do estudo do que a média nacional e a maioria dos doentes na faixa etária acima de 60 anos. Além disso, é documentado em literatura o benefício de campanhas multidisciplinares de conscientização para pacientes com diabetes, o que sustenta a realização do evento.

Abstract:
Diabetes Mellitus is a disease that affects the glycemic control of the human body and may culminate in several injuries for the human systems. The worldwide prevalence of Diabetes has been increasing over the years and Brazil is among the leaders of this index. In this sense, the present report aims to present the experience of performing the “Diabetes Day”, organized by the Academic League of Endocrinology and Metabolism of the Federal University of Viçosa. Moreover, it aims to compare the results found in the report with the national average. The event was attended by medical students and the league's teacher, nursing students, physical education and nutrition professionals. The event occurred at an outdoor fair in the city of Viçosa - MG, where the blood glucose of people passing by the place was measured. In a building next door, lectures were offered in order to raise awareness of diabetes. As an result, the prevalence of DM in the sample of this study was higher than the national average and the most patients observed were aged over 60 years as well. In addition, the benefit of multidisciplinary awareness campaigns for patients with diabetes is documented in the literature, supporting the event.
