RELATO DE EXPERIÊNCIA: ATIVIDADE REALIZADA EM UMA INSTITUIÇÃO DE LONGA PERMANÊNCIA PARA IDOSOS NA CIDADE DE FRANCA
Introdução O envelhecimento é uma conquista da humanidade, mas apresenta desafios a serem enfrentados pela sociedade, a proporção de pessoas com mais de 60 anos cresce mais rápido que as outras faixas etárias. A idade traz consigo alterações que podem afetar a saúde dos idosos, comprometendo a capacidade física e mental do individuo em desempenhar determinadas atividades de vida diária. As Instituições de Longa Permanência para Idosos (ILPIs) têm caráter residencial, destinadas a serem domicílios coletivos de pessoas com idade igual ou superior a 60 anos, com ou sem suporte familiar, em condição de liberdade, dignidade e cidadania. Diante dessa realidade objetivou-se com essa atividade acompanhar de perto a realidade desse tipo de instituição e conversar com os idosos que residem em uma ILPI , contribuindo para integrar a teoria dos livros com o dia a dia desses idosos institucionalizados. Metodologia Alunos do internato visitaram uma ILPI. Para a visita foram usadas folhas em branco para anotar os dados referentes a instituição, além de fichas para anotar as informações dos idosos que foram entrevistados e materiais para o exame físico .Relato A instituição atende ate 41 pacientes, os quais são divididos em ala feminina e masculina. A ILPI tem parceria com a prefeitura que contribui com a manutenção do local. A verba é obtida através da aposentadoria dos idosos, de campanhas realizadas durante o ano e de doações. Após conhecer a instituição, os alunos se dividiram para iniciar as entrevistas com os idosos e realizar os testes de estado mental e escala de depressão. Conclusão Para compreender o idoso institucionalizado é preciso conhecer sua historia de vida. A partir do conhecimento do contexto familiar, social, econômico, das experiências, desejos e anseios dessa população é que podemos atender as suas necessidades de cuidado de forma completa.

Abstract:
Introduction Aging is a great achievement of humankind, but it presents challenges to be faced by society, as the proportion of people over 60 years of age grows faster than other age groups. Aging brings with it changes that can affect the health of the senior population, compromising physical and mental capacities of the individual, needed to perform certain activities of daily living. The long-term care institutions for the elders (ILPIs) are meant to function as residences, with the purpose to be collective homes for persons over 60 years of age, and for individuals without any family support. These elderly care facilities need to provide conditions of freedom, dignity, and citizenship. In face of this reality, the aim of this activity is to closely follow the reality of this type of institution and to talk to the elderly who live in an ILPI, thus contributing to integrate the theory of academical literature with the daily life experience of these institutionalized elderly groups. Methodology Medical students visited an ILPI. In the visit, blank sheets were used to write down the institution's data, such as forms to write down the information of the elderly that were interviewed, and materials for physical examinations. Report The institution assists up to 41 patients, which are divided into male and female wings. The ILPI has a partnership with the municipality, which contributes to the maintenance of the project. Financial resources come from the senior’s retirement payments, from campaigns carried out during the year and from donations. After getting to know the facility, the students split up to interview the patients and to apply mental status tests and depression scales. Conclusion To understand the senior patients, it is necessary to know their life story. By knowing the family, social and economic contexts, such as their experiences, wishes and desires of this population, we can fully meet their caring needs.
