Abstract: The objective of this work is to investigate and analyze in depth the complex intersection between the social issue of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, with the purpose of identifying the main socioeconomic disparities, inequalities in access to healthcare and psychosocial impacts affecting vulnerable populations. This is a reflective analysis that was based on the discursive elaboration of the subject, supported by the review of national and international scientific literature, as well as the critical evaluation of the authors. It is noteworthy that the reflections presented are the result of interpretations of literature and the authors' impressions. The explanations will follow a thematic axis, originating from the interpretations. Given that there was no involvement in direct or applied research, the need to subject the study to ethical procedures is excluded. Recent studies highlight a substantial correlation between the presence of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and unfavorable socioeconomic factors. Notably, patients belonging to low-income strata demonstrate a greater propensity to develop CKD. This intricate connection between kidney health and socioeconomic status highlights disparities that are becoming more pronounced, especially during the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic crisis, existing gaps in socioeconomic conditions are exacerbated, having a direct adverse impact on chronic kidney disease patients' access to essential resources. Among these resources, access to dialysis treatments and medications, crucial for the management and control of CKD, stands out. These final considerations highlight the need for a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to managing CKD during the pandemic. The integration of healthcare professionals, policy makers, communities and, most importantly, patients themselves, is essential to building a system of care that goes beyond clinical treatment and embraces the entire patient experience. Addressing the complex challenges of CKD in times of pandemic requires not only innovation, but also a collective commitment to creating more inclusive, resilient and patient-centered care environments.
