QUANDO O INESPERADO ACONTECE: AS REPERCUSSÕES DO DIAGNÓSTICO DE DIABETES MELLITUS E A PERSPECTIVA DE SOFRIMENTO PSÍQUICO
O presente estudo possui como objetivo verificar a existência da relação entre o diagnóstico de diabetes mellitus (DM) e a existência de sofrimento psíquico em usuários que referem diagnóstico de DM. Pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa realizada em uma Unidade Básica de Saúde (UBS) situada na cidade de Santa Rosa, Rio Grande do Sul, através de entrevista semi-estruturada. Os dados obtidos foram tratados através da análise de conteúdo que tratam da temática em estudo. A partir do material coletado foi possível elencar três (3) categorias: compreensão acerca do DM, mudanças na vida em função do diagnóstico e repercussões psíquicas relacionadas ao DM. Explicitamente não está dito que existe sofrimento, mas pela análise das expressões se percebe que há. A partir do estudo realizado é possível apontar que as repercussões psíquicas perpassam tanto na compreensão acerca do DM como nas mudanças na vida em função do diagnóstico.

Abstract:
This study aims at verifying the possible relationship between the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus (DM) and the existence of psychological distress in users who report a diagnosis of DM. A qualitative approach was performed at a Basic Health Unit (UBS) in Santa Rosa, Rio Grande do Sul, through a semi-structured interview. The obtained data was treated through the content analysis that deals with the subject under study. From the collected material it was possible to list three (3) categories: understanding about DM, changes in life as a result of diagnosis and psychic repercussions related to DM. Explicitly it is not said that there is suffering, but by the expressions analysis it can be realized that there is. Based on the study carried out, it is possible to point out that the psychic repercussions undergo both the understanding about DM and the changes in life due to the diagnosis.
