PROTOCOLOS PARA PREVENÇÃO E TRATAMENTO DAS MUCOSITES EM PACIENTES ONCOLÓGICOS – REVISÃO DE LITERATURA
O câncer bucal continua sendo um problema de saúde pública em que a radioterapia e quimioterapia são alternativas para seu tratamento. Porém, devido a suas características inespecíficas, essas terapêuticas têm elevado a incidência de efeitos colaterais, como a mucosite oral. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi revisar a literatura a respeito da mucosite em pacientes portadores de câncer de cabeça e pescoço submetidos a tratamentos antineoplásicos. Dentre os sites de pesquisa foram selecionados trabalhos publicados nas bases de dados MEDLINE, PubMed, SciELO, EBSCO, Portal Regional da BVS, nos idiomas inglês e português, além de bancos de dados relacionado a incidência de câncer no Brasil (Instituto Nacional de Câncer –INCA). O resultado da revisão de literatura indica que a mucosite oral é uma implicação corriqueira, que se apresenta por inflamação da mucosa ocasionando dor, disfasia e predisposição a infecções bucais, em que a melhor conduta terapêutica e preventiva a respeito dessa patologia ainda é instigante e inespecífica, o tratamento primordial é a intervenção paliativa, que abrange o manejo da sintomatologia dolorosa por meio da ingestão de analgésicos, uso de anestésico, bochecho, crioterapia, terapia a laser, orientação nutricional, utilização do mel e uma boa higiene oral. Podemos concluir que se faz imprescindível a consumação de estudos mais aprofundados com o intuído de definir uma terapêutica padronizada e efetiva, que proporcione qualidade de vida aos pacientes.

Abstract:
Oral cancer remains a public health problem in which radiotherapy and chemotherapy are alternatives for its treatment. However, due to their nonspecific characteristics, these therapies have increased the incidence of side effects, such as oral mucositis. The aim of the present study was to review the literature on mucositis in patients with head and neck cancer undergoing antineoplastic treatments. Among the research sites, works published in the MEDLINE, PubMed, SciELO, EBSCO, VHL Regional Portal databases, in English and Portuguese, were selected, in addition to databases related to the incidence of cancer in Brazil (Instituto Nacional de Câncer – INCA). The result of the literature review indicates that oral mucositis is a common implication, which occurs due to inflammation of the mucosa causing pain, dysphasia and predisposition to oral infections, in which the best therapeutic and preventive approach regarding this pathology is still thought-provoking and nonspecific , the primary treatment is palliative intervention, which covers the management of painful symptoms through the use of analgesics, use of anesthetics, mouthwash, cryotherapy, laser therapy, nutritional guidance, use of honey and good oral hygiene. We can conclude that it is essential to carry out more in-depth studies in order to define a standardized and effective therapy that provides quality of life to patients.
