Abstract: The city of Fuerte Olimpo is a hidden pearl in the middle of the Paraguayan Pantanal, it has wonderful natural resources, a variety of little-known cultural assets, and a historical past related to the silver route in Upper Peru, during the Spanish colonization in South America. , which should be recognized, protected and valued based on different strategies, such as the rescue of the different cultural manifestations and the natural landscape that surrounds it. In response to this situation, the declaration of an evolutionary cultural landscape is proposed, because in it one can observe "the joint work between human beings and nature". It also includes a proposal for a cultural itinerary route, which will be called the "Historical Route of Alto Paraguay". Both the city of Fuerte Olimpo and some towns located north of the Paraguay River present a variety of very attractive manifestations for cultural and ecological tourism, respectively.
