Abstract: Artisanal naval carpentry is responsible for providing a large part of the ships that make up the artisanal fishing fleet in the state of Pará. However, shipbuilding yards in northeastern Pará have been undergoing a process of transformation in the face of market demands, the use of new materials and the work of new professionals in these environments. From this perspective, this article aims to highlight the transformations that have been taking place in the artisanal shipbuilding sector in the Bragantina region, in northeastern Pará. To this end, the research involved three stays in Bragança- PA. One in each semester of 2022 and one in the first semester of 2024. The research involved ethnographic data collection and analysis, with monitoring of production activities in the shipyards, semi-structured interviews, field diaries and photographic records. The research concluded that in addition to the traditional naval carpenters, fibersmiths and painters, mechanics, electricians and fibersmiths also work in the Bragant shipyards. In addition, materials such as fiberglass and resin, and recyclable plastic-aluminum sheets, are taking up more and more space in boats and shipyards for handcrafted wooden shipbuilding.
