“PRÓ-PALHA” UMA PARCERIA PARA DIFUSÃO DO PLANTIO DIRETO NO OESTE CATARINENSE
Em 1998 eram cultivados 1.192.000
ha com culturas anuais (milho, feijão e
soja) na região Oeste Catarinense. Deste
total, aproximadamente 850.000 ha eram
considerados aptos para culturas anuais e,
portanto, com potencial para serem cultivados
em plantio direto. Dessa área com potencial
de cultivo, apenas, cerca de 215.000 ha
(todos praticamente em grandes lavouras
mecanizadas) estavam sendo cultivados em
plantio direto. Diante dessa situação e com
a meta de atingir 500.000 ha com plantio
direto, em 4 anos, a Epagri em parceria
com a Cooperalfa, Cooplantio, Agroceres,
Monsanto, Souza Cruz, Manah, Iadel, Masinel
e Sfil elaboraram um projeto com o objetivo
de implementar e consolidar o plantio direto
na região Oeste Catarinense. O projeto foi
composto por dois componentes: componente
pesquisa agropecuária (com 8 subprojetos)
e componente treinamento e difusão de
tecnologias. O presente trabalho teve por
objetivo registrar as atividades, os alcances
obtidos e as lições aprendidas com o Projeto
PRÓ-PALHA na sua região de abrangência.

Abstract:
In 1998, 1,192,000 ha were
cultivated in the west region of Santa Catarina
State, Brazil. From this total, approximately
850,000 ha were considered suitable for annual
crops (corn, bean, soybean plant), therefore,
with great potential for no tillage production.
From this potential area, around 215,000 ha (all
of them in large mechanized plantations) were
no tillage cultivated. Facing this situation and
aiming to increase no tillage area to 500,000
ha in four years, Epagri, in a partnership with
Cooperalfa, Cooplantio, Agroceres, Monsanto,
Souza Cruz, Manah, Iadel, Masinel and Sfil,
developed a project with the objective of
enhancing and consolidating no tillage system
in the west region of the state. The project had
two components: farming research component
(with eight subprojects) and training component, which includes technology diffusion.
So, this present work aimed to register the activities, the obtained goals and the learned
lessons with the “PRÓ-PALHA” project in its coverage region.
