Abstract: Continuing Education played a significant role in the different levels of health care, one of which stands out in the hospital environment, as with the increase in the number of health professionals, education had to train all new employees hired to assist patients with COVID-19. Nurses in Continuing Education hard trained these professionals with a focus on Patient Safety. For this reason, the objective was to seek in the literature the contributions of Continuing Education to the process of teaching and training new health professionals in the hospital environment. Method: This is an integrative review that includes 22 scientific articles from 2016 to 2021, whose data were collected by the Scielo database, Pub Med and VHL, being evaluated through content analysis. Results: In this way, studies demonstrate and evidence that Continuing Education has a role of excellence in training new health collaborators, having great positive impacts for safe care for patients who were sick by COVID-19. It is pointed out that the training was aimed not only at the safety of the patient, but also at the safety of the professional himself. Final considerations: It was found in the general analysis of this study that there is a predominantly positive evaluation in the training of health professionals for continuing education. It is noteworthy that the educational process within a company or in other healthcare environments is extremely important for professional development, for safe assistance.
