Abstract: Integrative medicine seeks to treat individuals as a whole: body, mind and spirit, providing comprehensive care. Integrative and complementary practices (PICs), whose safety and efficacy have been scientifically proven, combined with conventional treatments, can lead to improved quality of life in various diseases. The purpose of this systematic review was to present evidence of how integrative and complementary practices can help in the treatment of chronic pain in patients with fibromyalgia. Objectives: To understand how integrative and complementary health practices (PICs) impact the treatment and quality of life of patients with chronic pain due to fibromyalgia; to present PICs as a comprehensive, complementary and non-pharmacological treatment option; identify the PICs that demonstrate the greatest efficacy in treating patients with fibromyalgia and chronic pain. Methodology: To guide the study, the following question was formulated: Does the evidence show that the use of PICs is associated with improvement of fibromyalgia symptoms? In the preparation of the question and in the search for evidence, the PICO strategy was used, with quantitative methodology, original scientific articles, published from 2013 to 2023 and found in the following electronic databases: SCIELO, PUBMED, MEDLINE, and LILACS. Investigations with qualitative methodology, non-systematic reviews, theoretical essays, research protocols, theses, and dissertations were excluded. The results received a quantitative treatment, presented in tables and figures evidencing the eligible studies. In addition, a qualitative analysis was carried out with research that pointed to acupuncture as an integrative therapeutic proposal in the reduction and relief of pain. Other practices with a holistic and integral approach also contributed to the reduction of suffering and quality of life, but with the need for broader studies with greater methodological rigor. In conclusion, the approach to patients with chronic pain should always involve a multidisciplinary team, with unique therapeutic options, adapted to individual needs.
