Abstract: This scientific communication analyzes the production of meanings in Investigative Educational Practices, from the perspective of Mathematical Modeling procedures, with 7th period undergraduates, of an initial teacher training course, in a public education institution. The objective is to analyze the meanings produced in obtaining mathematical models, based on a generating theme based on the History of Mathematics, to obtain the respective general terms of numerical sequences involving tetrahedral numbers and characterize such practices as a possible Modeling procedure Mathematics. The epistemological basis adopted for the analysis was the principles of the Semantic Fields Model and the methodology used was the production of meanings and knowledge, with the constitution of categories. As a result, it is concluded that, based on the adopted framework, the practices developed are based on Mathematical Modeling processes, encouraging an investigative nature of mathematical objects, in a historical framework of Pythagorean arithmetic.
