POMELO, A MAIOR DAS FRUTAS CÍTRICAS COM POTENTE AÇÃO ANTIINFLAMATÓRIA E HEPATOPROTETORA
O pomelo (Citrus maxima), também chamada laranja-natal, ou cimbo, é a fruta cítrica, pertencente à família Rutaceae, árvore com 5 a 8 m de altura. Está amplamente distribuída nas regiões tropicais e subtropicais. Os frutos podem ser consumidos ao natural ou podem ser industrializados, resultando em diferentes produtos, como sucos, óleos essenciais, refrigerante e pectina. Esta é a maior das frutas cítricas, e pode pesar até dois quilos. Estudos recentes mostram que as folhas e frutos possuem diferentes atividades biológicas como antimicrobiana, anti-inflamatória, antioxidante e hepatoprotetora em vários modelos de estudo.

Abstract:
Pomelo (Citrus maxima), also called orange-christmas, or cimbo, is a classic fruit, belonging to the family Rutaceae, a tree with 5 to 8 m in height. It is widely distributed in climatic and subtropical regions. The fruits can be consumed in the natural or they can be industrialized, resulting in different products, such as juices, essential oils, soft drinks and pectin. This is the largest citrus fruit and can weigh up to two pounds. Recent studies show that leaves and fruits have different biological activities such as antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and hepatoprotective in several study models.
