Abstract: This article presents the findings of the study entitled “How the collaborative approach can contribute to the development of oral skills in English,” conducted with students from the final semester of the Portuguese/English Language and Literature course at a campus of the State University of Goiás (UEG). This case study analyzed oral interactions during classroom activities based on Emily Dickinson's poetry, focusing on poem 288, “I’m Nobody! Who are you?”. Methodological tools included classroom recordings and interviews with participant students. The collaborative approach, proposed as a pedagogical strategy, proved effective in fostering peer cooperation and encouraging spoken language development. The theoretical framework was grounded in scholars such as Almeida Filho (1998), Araújo and Figueiredo (2018; 2022), Bialetzki (2021), among others.
