Abstract: Toxic plants are of great importance in livestock where they cause great damage, whether direct or indirect, causing the death of animals in the field every year. Each plant species has its particularities as an active principle, its plant parts that have more toxicity than others. In Brazil, these plants appear naturally in pastures and, because the animals move freely in these environments, the probability of consumption is high, causing serious impacts on health and well-being. Therefore, the objective of this work was to report some species of toxic plants that have been causing damage to livestock in loco in the city of Varre-Sai in the state of Rio de Janeiro and portray some clinical signs and the management indicated to reduce these toxic species found to pasture.
