Abstract: This text intends to report the possibilities of interface between Pierre Bourdieu's sociological theory and research on teacher education. It refers to the possibilities of understanding established in sociology regarding the elaboration of scientific knowledge and the field determinants, habitus and capitals associated with subjects and their positions. The potential for applying Pierre Bourdieu's sociological theory to privileged objects of investigation, such as pedagogical practices and teacher training, and its contribution to explaining what happens in the educational field are verified. Given the nature of writing and the belief that different ways of producing pedagogical studies are possible and desirable, the conclusions are not made explicit, but a multiplication of questions arising from the construction of ideas and ways of thinking are offered.
