Abstract: This research aimed to map the characteristics of international scientific production on the quality of public education in the period from 2000 to 2020. Based on a sample of 95 articles extracted from the Web of Science knowledge base, analyzes of bibliometric and sociometric indicators were carried out. (co-authorship networks, co-citation, bibliographic coupling and co-occurrence of keywords). The results indicate that (i) research on the subject is quite dispersed and is undergoing a period of growth, aspects that suggest its development, while opening up opportunities for new lines of research; (ii) most prolific authors are linked to North American and Brazilian research institutions; (iii) the prominent approaches are the economic and health aspects of public education from the perspective of quality.
