Abstract: The absence of hematological profile parameters directed to the goat species in different factors such as age, breed, sex, weight, breeding, management and environment can influence the variability of the picture, through this, the objective was to determine the hematological parameters of fistulated goats kept in confinement. Five crossbred goats, aged 4.5 ± 0.5 years, clinically healthy and recently fistulated in the rumen were used. These are kept in confinement in a collective area provided with feeders and drinkers, having as characteristics a dirt floor, and access to the open area with trees, receiving a diet based on grass (Pennisetum purpureum) and concentrate twice a day and supply of drinking water ad libitum. Blood was collected by jugular venipuncture in vacuum tubes containing ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) for a blood count, which consisted of determining red blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit, M.C.V., M.C.H., total proteins and fibrinogen, as well as leukocytes, segmented cells, eosinophils, lymphocytes and platelets, using an automatic hematological counter. In the erythrogram of each animal, it can be observed that for the quantity of red blood cells, 15.95 thousand/mm³, 13.49 thousand/mm³, 12.32 thousand/mm³, 13.39 thousand/mm³ and 15.15 thousand/mm³ were observed, all within the reference values established for the goat species, which vary from 8.0 to 18.0 million/mm³. In the red blood cell count, the results found suggested that the goats were not negatively impacted by the confinement and fistulation conditions, the erythropoiesis process also remained stable. Hemoglobin presented levels of 8.9 g/dL, 9.2 g/dL, 8.1 g/dL, 8.4 g/dL and 10 g/dL, respectively. Hematocrit represents the proportion of red blood cells in the total blood volume and the values found in this study were 28%, 28%, 24%, 24% and 29%. Finally, it was concluded that the values presented in the erythrocyte and leukogram analyses of the goats indicate that, in general, they are healthy and do not present acute or chronic changes due to stress from confinement, cannulation status or diet provided.
