PERFIL EPIDEMIOLÓGICO DOS CASOS DE AIDS EM IDOSOS NO BRASIL DE 2007 A 2017
A síndrome da imunodeficiência adquirida (AIDS) normalmente é associada a pessoas em idade reprodutiva, todavia, também se tem notado um aumento do número de casos em indivíduos da terceira idade. Isso porque, o Brasil atualmente vive um processo de envelhecimento populacional, o que lança o desafio acerca das novas formas de cuidado em relação ao idoso, incluindo sua sexualidade como um direito. Além disso, existem diversos fatores contribuintes para tal aumento nos casos, incluindo a melhora na qualidade de vida, avanços que contribuem para a atividade sexual e a infrequencia do uso de preservativos nesse grupo.
No período estudado, mais de 2% dos casos totais de AIDS eram em indivíduos acima de 65 anos, aumentando constantemente ao longo do período de análise. Além disso, a prevalência foi maior em homens brancos, sendo que entre as regioes o Sudeste foi a com maior número e Norte com menor número.
Os idosos compõem uma população que atualmente se encontra vulnerável à AIDS, sendo que nessa população, a maior prevalência é na faixa etária entre 65 e 79 anos, em homens e brancos.

Abstract:
Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is usually associated with people in reproductive age, however, there has also been an increase in the number of cases in elderly people. This is happening due to the fact that Brazil is currently experiencing a population aging process, which raises the challenge about new forms of care with the elderly, including their sexuality as a right. In addition, there are several other contributing factors to this increase in the cases, including the improvement in quality of life, advances that contribute to sexual activity and the infrequency of condom use in this group.
During the study period, more than 2% of the total AIDS cases were older than 65 years, constantly increasing during the analysis period. In addition, the prevalence was higher in white men, in all regions of the country, with the Southeast having the highest number and the North with the lowest number.
The elderly make up a population that is currently vulnerable to AIDS, and in this population, the highest prevalence is in the age group between 65 and 79 years, in men and white people.
