PERFIL EPIDEMIOLÓGICO DE DERMATOFITOSES EM PACIENTES ATENDIDOS EM UM LABORATÓRIO DA REDE PRIVADA DE MACEIÓ - AL
Dermatófitos são fungos filamentosos com habilidade de invadir substratos queratinizados e semi-queratinizados, tais como pele, pelos e unhas causando infecções superficiais em humanos e animais. O presente estudo teve como objetivo determinar o perfil epidemiológico de dermatofitoses em pacientes atendidos em um laboratório da rede privada de Maceió - Al. Trata-se de estudo transversal observacional descritivo, onde foram avaliados 102 pacientes com lesões sugestivas para dermatofitoses, durante o período de dezembro de 2010 a março de 2011. Dos 102 pacientes avaliados, foram coletadas 142 amostras clínicas, e dessas, 22 (15,5%) apresentaram-se positivas para dermatófitos. A faixa etária mais afetada compreendeu indivíduos entre 31 e 45 anos (36,8%), sendo o sexo feminino o mais acometido, com 10 (52,6%) atendimentos. Trichophyton tonsurans foi à espécie mais frequente, representando 9 (41,0%) isolados. Considerando os sítios anatômicos avaliados, os pés (tinea pedis) foram os de maior prevalência, responsável por 31,9% dos casos. Esses achados orientam um melhor entendimento sobre os agentes etiológicos de dermatofitoses no estado de Alagoas e enfatizam a importância do diagnóstico micológico, visto a necessidade de se estabelecer a terapia baseada na correta identificação do agente infeccioso.

Abstract:
Dermatophytes are filamentous fungi with the ability to invade keratinized and semi-keratinized substrates, such as skin, hair and nails, causing superficial infections in humans and animals. The present study aimed to determine the epidemiological profile of dermatophytosis in patients seen in a private laboratory in Maceió - Al. This is descriptive observational cross-sectional study, in which 102 patients with lesions suggestive of dermatophytosis were evaluated during the period of December 2010 to March 2011. Of the 102 patients evaluated, 142 clinical samples were collected, and of these, 22 (15.5%) were positive for dermatophytes. The most affected age group comprised individuals between 31 and 45 years old (36.8%), with the female sex being the most affected, with 11 (52.6%) attendance. Trichophyton tonsurans was the most frequent species, representing 9 (41.0%) isolates. Considering the anatomical sites evaluated, the feet (tinea pedis) were the most prevalent, accounting for 31.9% of cases. These findings guide a better understanding of the etiologic agents of dermatophytosis in the state of Alagoas and emphasize the importance of mycological diagnosis, given the need to establish therapy based on the correct identification of the infectious agent.
