PERFIL EPIDEMIOLÓGICO DA MORBIMORTALIDADE DA DOENÇA DE ALZHEIMER EM ALAGOAS E NO NORDESTE BRASILEIRO
A doença de Alzheimer (DA) é
uma doença neurodegenerativa de caráter
progressivo e irreversível, que acarreta
ausência da memória e provoca uma queda
das funções cognitivas. O estudo delineia o
perfil epidemiológico dos pacientes internados
e o número de óbitos por DA no Estado de
Alagoas (AL) e no Nordeste (NE) brasileiro no
período de janeiro de 2015 a abril de 2018.
Trata-se de estudo epidemiológico quantitativo,
transversal e retrospectivo. Os dados foram
obtidos na base de dados do Sistema Nacional
de Vigilância Epidemiológica do Ministério da
Saúde e Departamento de Informática do SUS
(DATASUS). As variáveis pesquisadas foram:
número de internações e de óbitos, faixa etária
e sexo. Durante o período de 2015 até abril de
2018 foi registrado um total de 5.182 internações
em todo o território nacional (1.813 homens e
3.369 mulheres). Desse contingente, a região
Nordeste foi responsável por 10%, por sua vez,
AL detém 1,1% do total da região Referente ao
número de óbitos, durante o período de 2015
até março de 2018, foram registrados 846 (287
homens e 559 mulheres). Destes, AL contabiliza
0% dos registros. Sob esta óptica, o nordeste
encontra-se em terceiro lugar com 9,1%, sendo antecedido pela região sul e sudeste.
O presente estudo é um instrumento de conhecimento aos profissionais de saúde e à
população local sobre a DA no NE e em Alagoas.

Abstract:
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive and irreversible
neurodegenerative disease, which causes absence of memory and a fall in cognitive
functions, generating an individual incapacity. The study outline the epidemiological
profile of hospitalized patients and the number of deaths due to Alzheimer's disease
in the State of Alagoas (AL) and in Brazil’s Northeast (NE) from January 2015 to
April 2018. This is a descriptive and retrospective study. Data were obtained from
the National Epidemiological Surveillance System of the Ministry of Health and the
Department of Informatics of SUS (DATASUS). The variables studied were: number of
hospitalizations and deaths, age and sex. During the period from 2015 to April 2018, a
total of 5,182 hospitalizations were registered in Brazil (1,813 men and 3,369 women).
Of this contingent, Northeast Region accounted for 10%. AL was responsible for 1.1%
of the total of the region, with Maceió presenting 83.3% and Campo Alegre 16.7% of
the cases. Prevalence was about 80 years or more (66.7% of cases). With regard to the
number of deaths in the region, 846 deaths (287 men and 559 women) were registered
during the period from 2015 to March 2018. Of these, AL posts 0% of the records.
Thus, under this view, the northeast is in third place with 9.1%, being preceded by
the south and southeast. The present study is an indicator of the knowledge of health
professionals and the local population about AD in the NE, especially in the state of AL.
