Abstract: The practice of self-care strategies constitutes a challenge on a personal level for nursing professionals who provide care to patients diagnosed with Covid-19, in the Intensive Care Units of health institutions. The general purpose of this research was to understand the self-care strategies in communication and perception of reality used by nurses during the care of patients with COVID-19 in a State Social Enterprise in the city of Valledupar. The study was developed using a qualitative methodology; With a descriptive hermeneutic design, the sample was represented by 10 Nurses to whom a semi-structured interview was applied. Data triangulation was carried out using the Atlas program. Ti8, which provided semantic networks for information analysis. Among the main results, it was found that the nursing staff used different strategies as elements of protection and self-care, with religious, cultural and social beliefs being the most implemented; A level of comprehensive knowledge was also highlighted through the use of technological tools.
