Abstract: Women's political participation is an essential component for the consolidation of inclusive and equitable democracies. The objective of this study is to analyze the levels of political participation of university women. A quantitative approach was used, with a sample of 303 women from a public university in southern Peru. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire that included validated scales to measure political participation. The results indicated that the majority of participants perceive a moderate level of political participation (57.4%), 74.3% consider the factors influencing political participation moderate, and moderate effectiveness of quota policies in promoting gender equality (63.4%) and 33% perceive high gender equality in politics. It is concluded that, although quota policies have had a positive impact on female representation, there are still structural and cultural challenges that limit fully equal political participation.
