Abstract: This study investigated the benefits of using the Augmentative and Alternative Communication System (AAC) by psychologists as a communication mechanism for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Through an exploratory literature review, the impacts of AAC on language development, social interaction and quality of life of these children were analyzed. The results demonstrated that the use of AAC contributed significantly to the advancement of communication and the global development of the participants, highlighting the importance of this approach in clinical and educational practice. The conclusions highlight the need to promote evidence-based practices and a more inclusive approach to caring for children with ASD, aiming to improve the quality of life and well-being of these individuals.
