Abstract: This study focuses on the exhibition “Ecoar,” which brings together percussion instruments and representations of entities from Angola’s candomblé produced by the ceramicists from the city of Caraguatatuba, the Ubuntu Group. The objective of this article is to illuminate the identity between Art and Religion, as well as the essence of religious and aesthetic experiences. To better understand the meaning attributed to words, objects, and religious images of African origin, we use the theoretical perspective of material religion, which highlights objects to think about religions, where things appear as causes rather than consequences. Finally, we learn that the Ecoar exhibition contributes to the promotion of intercultural dialogue and religious tolerance, and that each work exhibited is imbued with symbolism and tradition, transcending its material form and becoming a transformative force in the lives of people with its ability to touch the body and soul of devotees and visitors.
