Abstract: Brazil stands out as one of the largest milk producers globally. To maintain high production levels, producers have adopted advanced technological systems, such as herd confinement, aiming for better production efficiency and animal comfort conditions. However, the fast pace of work can result in health problems for workers, such as repetitive strain and inadequate postures. Therefore, implementing ergonomic practices becomes crucial to prevent such problems and promote a safe and healthy work environment. This literary review seeks to explore the origin, concepts and application of ergonomics in milk production systems, with an emphasis on ergonomic factors and the adaptation of work in this specific context. The historical evolution of ergonomics will be addressed, highlighting its contributions to the efficiency and safety of activities related to dairy production, as well as the main ergonomic concepts and principles relevant to optimizing work systems in this sector. The objective is to promote healthier, more productive and sustainable working conditions for workers involved in milk production.
