Abstract: Amazonian biodiversity is home to many species of plants, trees, and seeds that play crucial roles in traditional medicine and scientific research. Vegetable oils extracted from this region are beautiful for the cosmetic industry, thanks to their unique biological active ingredients, such as antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties. These benefits are associated with terpenes, sesquiterpenes, and flavonoids. In addition to functional properties, these oils have distinct aromas, which are also highly valued by the cosmetic industry. This work explores five types of Amazonian vegetable oils: andiroba, cumaru, pracaxi, breu branco, and murumuru. Each offers unique benefits for skin, hair, and overall well-being. Its chemical compounds are α-copaene, β-carophyllene, myristic acid, palmitic acid, linoleic acid, oleic acid, stearic acid, p-cymene, limonene, and α-pinene. They are rich in biological activities, including reducing oxidative stress, skin restoration, aroma, deep hydration, and softness. Using natural products is an alternative to replacing synthetic compounds in cosmetic products, minimizing environmental impacts and promoting human well-being. Amazonian vegetable oils are highly valuable for the industry, especially for renowned companies such as Natura, Citróleo, and Simple Organic. They also strengthen the bioeconomy and value the traditional knowledge of local communities. Despite the challenges faced in the development of this market, the growth and continuous association of the use of natural products in cosmetics and the green chemistry route is evident, in addition to bringing visibility and value to Amazonian biodiversity.
