Abstract: The riverside populations of Mato Grosso do Sul (MS) depend on the rivers for their daily activities and face challenges related to access to basic services, environmental preservation, and climate change. Within the context of SDG 6, which aims to ensure access to adequate sanitation and hygiene, the importance of raising awareness about diseases caused by the lack of treated water stands out. To help in the depollution of rivers, a study on the eco-barrier, which can retain solid waste before it reaches sensitive areas, will be addressed. Although this structure contributes to cleaning, it is essential for residents to purify the water in their homes. The success of these initiatives depends on regular maintenance, environmental education, and community involvement, aiming to improve quality of life and promote sustainable practices.
