Abstract: This research aims to show how the Distance Education (EaD) modality acts in the teaching/learning process of the undergraduate course in Letters at UEM. To this end, an observation and evaluation were made of how the Virtual Learning Environment (AVA) plays the role of reproducing the same functions as the physical space of the face-to-face teaching modality, since there are many differences between one and the other, that is, it was examined how Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) conduct this dynamism in the same way as the traditional classroom environment. Methodologically, this work fits into the qualitative research model and has as its subject of investigation the Letters/EaD course at UEM. From this perspective, this work aimed to produce a better understanding of Distance Education in order to clarify its position in the area of Education, making it more democratic and receptive to the population.
