Abstract: Introduction: the traditional model of academic training favors disciplinary and fragmented teaching, which is no longer sufficient to meet the complex needs of communities and SUS users. PET – Saúde promotes the formation of tutorial learning groups in strategic areas for the SUS, an initiative of great relevance for the academic and professional training of students in the health area. Objective: to report the experience in interprofessional education in the perception of preceptors and students who participated in the 10th edition of the PET-Saúde group: Management and Assistance. Method: This is a descriptive-exploratory study with a qualitative approach, whose participants were preceptors and students regularly enrolled in courses in the health area of a Brazilian public Higher Education Institution (HEI), participants of the Education through Work Program (PET )-Management and Assistance. The study aimed to analyze the perception of program participants about the relationship between teaching and health services in the professional training process focused on the needs of the SUS. Results: The participants understand the importance of PET in academic education, in interdisciplinary work, in the construction of knowledge and in the elaboration of Pedagogical Political Projects. They are able to see the concept of interprofessional education in practice and recognize the importance of preceptors' work in professional training. The preceptors realize that teaching-service-community integration helps them in the implementation of interdisciplinary work and that they also learn while teaching, despite the various challenges faced. Final considerations: Interprofessional education proved to be a concept well assimilated by the participants of the PET-Saúde program, who are able to visualize its practical benefits in the work environment. The perception of the preceptors' work was also highlighted, recognizing the crucial role of these professionals in the education of students in the health area.
