Abstract: The objective of this research is to outline a profile of students on the Pedagogy course at Faculdade Anhanguera - Santana Unit, and investigate the difficulties encountered by these students in the context of multiliteracy. Teacher training has been discussed by several researchers in the area (Freire 1970; Schön 1987; Giroux 1992; McLaren 1997, among others), who highlight the need to introduce changes in educational praxis. In higher education, some teachers start from the idea that the student has mastery of reading and writing academic texts, however, many have not had contact with this textual genre in basic education, also making it difficult to follow the course. The research participants are students in the second and third semester of the Pedagogy course, at Faculdade Anhanguera, Santana Unit, located in São Paulo/SP. The data was obtained by preparing questionnaires, to profile the students and verify the difficulties encountered in the initial phase of the undergraduate course. The results indicate that students completed basic education in the public education network, have access to the internet, use digital resources to study; the difficulty encountered is related to understanding academic texts.
