O ÍCONE ARQUITETÔNICO CULTURAL NO PLANEJAMENTO ESTRATÉGICO DE BARCELONA.
A arquitetura icônica cultural
ganhou dimensões epidêmicas na Espanha
desde 1997 com a inserção do museu
Guggenheim em Bilbao. Entretanto, o gérmen
deste fenômeno iniciou-se em Barcelona, na
década de 80, com o evento emblemático dos
Jogos Olímpicos. A partir desta década foram
inseridos diversos ícones culturais como forma
de estratégia urbana, objetivando a atração
de pessoas, investidores e gerando maior
competitividade, tanto entre cidades, como
mundialmente. Neste artigo serão analisados
dois períodos do planejamento urbano catalão:
o primeiro, da década de 1980 (período das
Olimpíadas), será analisado o processo de
revitalização do centro da cidade, bem como
a inserção do Museu de Arte Contemporânea
de Barcelona – MACBA no bairro do Raval. No
segundo período (1990-2000), de intervenção
mais recente (período do Fórum das Culturas),
verificar-se-á os novos processos de
urbanização da área de expansão da cidade
onde foi inserido o Museu de Ciências intitulado
também de Edifício Fórum e BLAU.

Abstract:
The iconic cultural archtecture
has gained epidemic dimensions in Spain
since 1997 with the insertion of Guggenheim
Museum in Bilbao. However, the germ of this
phenomenon began in Barcelona in the 80’s,
with the emblematic event of the Olympic
Games. Fron this decade, several icons were
inserted as a form of urban strategy, aiming
at attrcting people, investors and generating
greater competitiveness, both between cities and
worldwide. In this paper, two periods of Catanal
urban planning will be analyzed: the first, from
the 1980s (the Olympic period), the downtown
revitalization process, as well as the insertion
of the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary
Art - MACBA in the Raval neighborhood. In the
second period (1990-2000), the most recent
intervention (period of the Forum of Cultures),
will be verified the new urbanization processes
of the expansion area of the city where inserted
the Science Museum also titled Forum Building
and BLAU.
