O Horror ao Incesto na Psicanálise de Freud: Uma Análise da Seção I de Totem e Tabu
O artigo propõe uma análise da primeira seção da obra Totem e Tabu (1912) de Sigmund Freud, enfatizando a noção de “horror ao incesto” como fundamento simbólico e estrutural da cultura. Partindo da leitura psicanalítica, discute-se a relação entre os costumes primitivos de interdição sexual e a formação da moralidade, destacando o papel da ambivalência de sentimentos e da repressão dos impulsos incestuosos na constituição do sujeito e das neuroses modernas. O texto também examina a articulação entre o totemismo e o Complexo de Édipo, propondo uma leitura que vincula o mito fundador da horda primitiva às origens do interdito e do laço social. Conclui-se que o horror ao incesto, longe de ser apenas uma proibição biológica, representa uma operação simbólica essencial à entrada do sujeito na cultura e ao surgimento da civilização.

Abstract:
The article offers an analysis of the first section of Sigmund Freud’s Totem and Taboo (1912), emphasizing the notion of the “horror of incest” as a symbolic and structural foundation of culture. From a psychoanalytic perspective, it discusses the relationship between primitive customs of sexual prohibition and the formation of morality, highlighting the role of ambivalence of feelings and the repression of incestuous impulses in the constitution of the subject and modern neuroses. The text also examines the articulation between totemism and the Oedipus Complex, proposing a reading that links the founding myth of the primal horde to the origins of prohibition and social bonds. It concludes that the horror of incest, far from being a mere biological prohibition, represents a symbolic operation essential to the subject’s entrance into culture and the emergence of civilization.
