O DESAFIO DO DESENVOLVIMENTO PROFISSIONAL DE PROFESSORES POLIVALENTES SOBRE QUESTÕES LIGADAS ÀS GEOCIÊNCIAS
Este capítulo trata-se da investigação de um programa de formação continuada em serviço que teve o objetivo de compreender como o foco da formação em conteúdos de geociências contribui para o desenvolvimento profissional, para o aprofundamento, e para a compreensão integrada de conhecimentos por parte das professoras polivalentes. A pesquisa se caracteriza como pesquisa-ação e foi realizada por meio de oficinas elaboradas com diferentes propostas de práticas pedagógicas, com conteúdos das geociências. Participou da formação um grupo de oito professoras das séries iniciais da educação básica em uma rede municipal de ensino do interior do Estado de São Paulo. Para a coleta de dados, inicialmente aplicou-se um questionário para identificar o perfil das professoras, sua formação, seus conhecimentos e suas práticas no processo de ensino e aprendizagem de ciências naturais, com foco nas geociências. Em seguida, realizamos três oficinas denominadas: “Tempo Geológico”, “Ciclo das Rochas” e “Ciclo da Água”, por meio de atividades teóricas e práticas, no ambiente escolar, e no campo. Os resultados obtidos no questionário serviram como referência para organização do programa de formação continuada, e ainda indicou que a maioria das professoras apresentam limitações nos conhecimentos das geociências, possíveis lacunas decorrentes de cursos de formação inicial ou continuada. Apresentaram ainda, indicativos de que para ministrarem conteúdos de Ciências se apropriavam de propostas “conteudistas”, apoiadas em livros didáticos e, portanto, desenvolviam poucas aulas práticas. As conclusões obtidas levam à apresentação de linhas orientadoras para formação continuada por meio de propostas mencionadas nesta pesquisa, as quais contribuíram para aproximar a prática profissional das professoras da investigação de conhecimentos científicos voltados às geociências, e sinalizaram maior envolvimento, atenção e prazer dos alunos em aprender.

Abstract:
This chapter deals with the investigation of a program of continuing training in service that aimed to understand how the focus of training in geoscience content contributes to professional development, to the deepening, and to the integrated understanding of knowledge on the part of multipurpose teachers. The research is characterized as action research and was carried out through workshops elaborated with different proposals of pedagogical practices, with contents from the geosciences. A group of eight teachers from the initial series of basic education participated in the training in a municipal school system in the interior of the State of São Paulo. For data collection, a questionnaire was initially applied to identify the teachers' profile, their training, their knowledge and their practices in the teaching and learning process of natural sciences, focusing on geosciences. Then, we held three workshops called: "Geological Time", "Cycle of Rocks" and "Water Cycle", through theoretical and practical activities, in the school environment, and in the field. The results obtained in the questionnaire served as a reference for the organization of the continuing education program, and also indicated that most teachers have limitations in the knowledge of geosciences, possible gaps resulting from initial or continuing training courses. They also presented indications that, in order to teach Science content, they used “content” proposals, supported by textbooks and, therefore, developed few practical classes. The conclusions obtained lead to the presentation of guidelines for continuing education through proposals mentioned in this research, which contributed to bring the professional practice of teachers closer to the investigation of scientific knowledge focused on geosciences, and signaled greater involvement, attention and pleasure of students in learn.
